Introduction to Turnitin

Turnitin is a program that helps prevent plagiarism in papers and assignments. It compares your work against a vast database of web pages, academic journals, and previously submitted documents in real-time, providing a similarity score to help you avoid plagiarism.
Turnitin Key Features

- Search resources: Web pages, major newspapers and magazines, academic journals, over 85 million papers and assignments, thousands of books, and other academic resources (Ebscohost, Sage, Emerald, Gale, etc.).
- Direct comparison function: Visually check the similarity with the comparison target on one screen.
- Support for various file submissions: PDF, DOC, HTML, TXT, WordPerfect support ※ HWP files are not supported
- Similarity score provided: Similarity is provided as a percentage.
- Unlimited uploads and access: Available anytime.
- Comparison time: Approximately 2 to 20 minutes per original document (varies depending on the length of the paper).
How to Use Turnitin
Similarity Check (Students and Faculty)
- Visit the Turnitin website link: (https://www.turnitin.com/ko) and click Sign Up.
- Enter your POSTECH class information. (Login is required, and you must use your POSTECH email address (@postech.ac.kr))
- Refer to the student manual to learn detailed usage methods.
Important Notes
- Accounts are limited to one per person.
- Your account may be deactivated if you do not log in for an extended period. Please log in periodically to maintain your usage rights.
Classroom Use (Faculty)
- Faculty can not only check the similarity of their own papers but also check, evaluate, and provide feedback on student assignments.
- Creating a new faculty account: Apply by email (k0703@postech.ac.kr) to the Turnitin administrator..
- Information to include: Name / Affiliation and Status / POSTECH email address / Purpose of use
- You can set a password and use it within 24 hours through the notification email sent by Turnitin.
- Refer to the instructor manual for detailed usage methods.
